Final Blog Post of the Semester

My group chose gang violence and we hope to bring more awareness to gangs and how they can avoid them by joining sports or helping out the community during there spare time.

This currently exist in our community. Not to long ago a boy named Jose Luis was killed because of gang violence. They thought he was a rival and shot him and his friends in his car.

I think a way I can help change is by making people around me aware of the dangers in being in a gang. Telling the little children the truth of what happens when the time comes. Also making sure that kids have something to do like sports to avoid getting into trouble.

Nelson Mandela

"do not judge me by my successes, judge me by how many times I fell down and got back up again."  ~ Nelson Mandela

This quote means that your motivation, strength, and courage to keep going after you have failed so many time is what really matter and counts. Yes, success may be nice but anyone can have it. If you struggle and work your hardest to achieve something it's value will multiply by 100s.

If I had to struggle for something to go right and it does, it will be more appreciative and really value what I have archived more that other things I have accomplished. It's not the fact that others judge you it's more of how you feel about what you achieved. It may of took many tries and a lot of time but in the end it is all worth it.

Staying Focused and Being Consistent!

“You just take one day at a time and ignore the noise. It's about staying focused and being consistent on a daily basis - that's what a pro does."  -Russell Wilson

I think what he means is by forgetting all the talk about the game and focusing on what is really important and give it your all is the only thing that matters in the end. All one can do is fix their mistakes by learning from them so it your content of what you achieved they you did it.

Current Event Round 6 Happens Today!

http://money.cnn.com/2013/12/05/news/economy/obamacare-insured/index.html?iid=SF_E_River

The article I chose for the topic of economic is about Obamacare. You can apply and fill the application but you have to pay your first month’s s premium by your insurer's due date, which in California’s case its January 6th. The article explains that if you cannot pay the fee by the due date your application will be terminated. Once that occurs you will have to wait to do it all over again the following period. Many people are not aware that you have to do the last step and pay the fee for it to be submitted. Also, the due date deadlines People applying do not realize that there is a deadline and have to follow it.

This is very important because many people are being confused by the obamacare applications and not aware of the steps that are mandatory. There needs to be informations on the deadlines of each state on the front page of the website. If it wasn't for this article many of us still wouldn't be informed of the issue occurring.

This affects us because many of our parents or family members could be applying for obamacare. If we do not know the mandatory steps that need to be completed with the application we will just blow it off. Also, there needs to be some sort of section with all the deadline due dates so that those who are trying to apply can do it on time. Mandatory steps that need to be done should be made clear that they must complete or the will not be covered/insured the starting of the new year.

December!

I am literally an adult, I'm 18 years old but I really don't have any responsibilities that are major. I wash my clothes, clean my room, help around the house, soccer, and school to really focus on. My dad doesn't want me to work so I can focus on school and also because I'm the only girl, the princess! Maybe later my responsibility will be a job. Overall I have it pretty smooth.

Quote of the Week and Thanksgiving Weekend!

"As we express our gratitude, we must never forget that the highest appreciation is not to utter words, but to live by them." ~ John Fitzgerald Kennedy

I think what JFK meant by this quote was that actions are louder than words and I agree. Anyone can just say nice things or say they will do things but by them showing it will speak for its self. I think this quote says it all, be about it or don't say anything about it. I try to live by this quote. To me actions do speak louder than words and when I see this in a person they have my respect and gratitude. Also when it's the holidays gifts isn't the gift someone must give to you I think time being spent is more valuable and cherishing the moments spent together is priceless.

For Thanks Giving I'm going to spend it with my family at my moms sisters house. My grandparents will be there and my grandma will make all the delicious food we will eat, she's the best cook ever! My grandparents came from Guatemala last night so I'm looking forward to seeing them. We will just enjoy each others company and feast.  I will pretty much be with family and do college apps. I am thankful for my grandparents coming all this way and the food we will be blessed with. I am thankful for everything I have and the people I have in my life.

Serving your community (part II)

Elderly Abuse

The problem that my proposal will address is how most of our elderly adults are in retirement homes or are being taken care of at home and could be or are secretly abused by their care takers.

Anyone can be affected by abuse of their care takers but elderly are more prone to this abuse like infants because they can't defend themselves.

Elder abuse, like other types of domestic violence, is extremely complex. Generally a combination of psychological, social, and economic factors, along with the mental and physical conditions of the victim and the perpetrator, contribute to the occurrence of elder maltreatment.
  • Physical Abuse—Inflicting, or threatening to inflict, physical pain or injury on a vulnerable elder, or depriving them of a basic need.
  • Emotional Abuse—Inflicting mental pain, anguish, or distress on an elder person through verbal or nonverbal acts.
  • Sexual Abuse—Non-consensual sexual contact of any kind, coercing an elder to witness sexual behaviors.
  • Exploitation—Illegal taking, misuse, or concealment of funds, property, or assets of a vulnerable elder.
  • Neglect—Refusal or failure by those responsible to provide food, shelter, health care or protection for a vulnerable elder.
  • Abandonment—The desertion of a vulnerable elder by anyone who has assumed the responsibility for care or custody of that person.
Many people who abuse the elderly are close family members and are dealing with so much stress and sometimes do things to get rid of some of the anger or just don't do anything at all which is neglect. People who have had an abusive life tend to abuse others.

This is an ongoing battle that is worldwide. Of course it has be addresses all over the world but still seems to happen, it's like racism it will never go away but we can voice it out and let it be know and also provide help for families who have a hard time taking care of their grandparents or parents and provide some helpful solutions.

I believe that everyone in my community feels that this is very important. It can happen to anyone and maybe even one of us in the future.

There are some possible solutions that can help better the issue:
1. If they see abuse or neglect repot it immediately.
2. Volunteer at old people homes and give joy to those who don't have much of it.
3. Voice out that the issue is here and real.
4. Join or make a group to advocate the issue and gather volunteers to help out the communities elderly homes.

Do we have a security system that catches these elderly abuses on the act at retirement homes?
Are people educated on this issue and how?

There are lots of websites that have information on this issue and can lead you to groups that help try to spread the word and volunteer to help the retirement homes.

Current Bills in Congress

  • Sponsor: Rep Speier, Jackie [CA-14] (introduced 2/26/2013)
  • San Francisco Bay Restoration Act - Amends the Federal Water Pollution Control Act (commonly known as the Clean Water Act) to authorize the Administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to provide funding to state and local agencies, special districts, and public or nonprofit agencies, institutions, and organizations for activities, studies, or projects identified in an annual priority list, including restoration projects and habitat improvement for fish, waterfowl, and wildlife, that advance the goals and objectives of the comprehensive management plan for the San Francisco estuary. Limits funding amounts to 75% of the total cost of eligible activities to be carried out using those amounts. Authorizes appropriations to the Administrator to carry out this Act for each of FY2013-FY20. Prohibits such amounts from being used by a management conference under the National Estuary Program.
  • restoration projects and habitat improvement for fish, waterfowl, and wildlife, that advance the goals and objectives of the comprehensive management plan for the San Francisco estuary.
  • This bill is for the benefit of the environment and the animals that are becoming scarce because we have taken over their homes. They are dying off because there is no space for them or food for them.
  • Status: Referred to the Subcommittee on Water Resources and Environment.

  • I don't think that support for the bill divided along political party lines because in reality it benefits     all of us because they keep the habitats going and flowing making things run smoothly. Each animal has a job that they do which contributes to the environment that we benefit off.
  • Committee/Subcommittee:Activity:

    Rep Honda, Michael M. [CA-17] - 2/26/2013
    Rep Huffman, Jared [CA-2] - 2/26/2013
    Rep Lee, Barbara [CA-13] - 2/26/2013
    Rep Lofgren, Zoe [CA-19] - 2/26/2013
    Rep McNerney, Jerry [CA-9] - 2/26/2013
    Rep Miller, George [CA-11] - 2/26/2013
    Rep Pelosi, Nancy [CA-12] - 2/26/2013
    Rep Swalwell, Eric [CA-15] - 2/26/2013
    Rep Thompson, Mike [CA-5] - 2/26/2013

I think this bill is important and shouldn't be ignored. If we lose our natural habitats it can impact our environment in a negative ways. So it's in our best interest to stay aware of how our environment is doing and how we can help stay healthy or ways we can improve it.

Your Idea can Become a Law!

A bill is just an idea at first then it is written on paper and becomes a bill. Next it has to be voted on by the house or the senate, but both say yes. Once approved it is sent to the sub committee then the committee after being approved by all of them it is voted again by the full house ( conference committee and senate ) then it is sent for the president to vote for it. If he vetoes it they vote again to see if it is wanted and it yes it becomes a law. If president doesn't veto it it becomes a law. That's how the bill is processed to become a law.  Anyone can make a bill.

    Getting Back On Track!

    1. My 3 day weekend was pretty chill. I went to go see my brother box on Friday, Saturday I went to a party then mall and movie theatre with Brenda, Sunday and Monday I just stayed home relaxing. My weekend was nice and fun.

    2. My academic goals to achieve before thanksgiving is finish Phoenix and submit my college applications. So far classes at M-A are the worst I have had so far. I miss some classes from last year but this year the classes are down the toilet. I'm not so worried about the classes it more of the fact that no one is organized. Wish things could be better but they won't so I have to stick it out with what I'm stuck with.

    The Birth of our Constitution

What I learned about the constitution and many other things to help run this country was:

    • Census is done every 10 years to count the people of each state.
    • Veto means to reject
    • President can veto a bill
    • 2/3 of the congress can vote for it it become law even after veto
    • To become president they must: be 35 and older, natural born citizen, and must have lived in the u.s for 14 years straight.
    • 1787 the constitution was approved by the convention
    • 27 amendments

    Election Day!

    1) To improve local schools and protect high quality math, science, reading and writing instruction with funding that cannot be taken by the State, shall San Mateo-Foster City Elementary School District upgrade classrooms, science labs, and libraries, relieve school overcrowding, update classroom technology for higher 21 st
    - century academic standards, and repair, construct, or acquire equipment, classrooms, sites and facilities by issuing $130,000,000 in bonds at legal rates, with citizen oversight, no money for administrators, and all funds staying local?

    2) The Board of Trustees of the San Mateo-Foster City Elementary School District has proposed this measure, which would authorize the District to issue bonds in an amount not to exceed $130 million. The bonds will have an interest rate not exceeding the legal maximum and will mature in a maximum of 25 or 40 years from the date of issuance of the bonds, depending on how they are issued. The District's best estimate of the average tax rate levy per year per $100,000 of assessed valuation to fund this bond is $19.00 for fiscal year 2014-2015 and also for fiscal year 2021-2022. The District's best estimate of the highest average tax rate levy per year per $100,000 of assessed valuation to fund this bond is $19.00.

    3) 55% Approval Required

    4) Yes, I think the vote should be passed because it will benefit the children who will be funded for a better education and focus on them more. I also believe that they should distribute the money to the schools who need it a lot more and so on. Once all in equal or near equal we can focus on the programs needed for the students like music programs ect.

    Blogger Day About You!

Albert Einstein once said, "Your imagination is the preview to life's coming attractions." It is now time to put your imagination to use. Pretend you have just been hired by a famous Hollywood Director to write the screenplay for your perfect day. Write what your perfect day would be like five years from today. This must be a detailed account so we can truly get a sense that we are living in that moment with you ... the more detail and passion the better.  Where would you wake up? What time would you wake up? What kind of house would it be?  (describe it in detail) What would you do when you woke up? Where would you go? In what kind of car would you be driving around town? Would you have a family?  Etc, Etc! Write in detail what your perfect day would be like five years from today.

    After you have completed that portion of the assignment, now I want you to write a second paragraph that discusses the following;

    1. How realistic is the scenario you wrote about above?
    2. What support, help, questions do you have in regard to making the above happen
    3. Name one reason why the above would not happen
    4. How committed would you say you are to making the above happen on a scale of 1-10 and why did you choose that number?
I am excited to read your responses.  I will explain at the end of class why it is so important for something like this to be on paper (or in this case, at minimum, in print)!  Thank you for your thoughtfulness in advance, while I look forward to reading these, I will admit, the purpose is more to benefit you than me :)

    Another Current Event Day!

    http://www.sfgate.com/education/article/College-financial-aid-drops-families-pinched-4921057.php

College financial aid drops - families pinched

That's because less financial aid was available to them, concludes a study released Wednesday by the College Board.

The numbers could help explain why families still feel squeezed even though the economy is improving.

For example, students attending a public, four-year college paid an average of $1,180 more in tuition this year than they did four years ago, in 2009-10, after financial aid was taken into account - even though colleges raised their prices this year by "the smallest percentage increase in over 30 years," or 2.9 percent on average. Overall, students paid an average of $3,120 after aid.

At private, nonprofit colleges, the amount paid by students after financial aid rose nearly as much on average - $910 - in half the time, since 2011-12. Students paid an average of $12,460 after aid.

Students are paying more because financial aid - education grants that do not have to be paid back - has not kept pace with rising tuition. In the last decade, financial aid for each full-time student rose by an average of 54 percent, from $9,700 to $14,980.

That's according to the latest "Trends in College Pricing," one of three new studies packed with data about what college costs, what students owe the bank after graduating and what they earn after getting a job.

"A college education is an unparalleled investment, but there is no college opportunity without college affordability," said David Coleman, president of the College Board, a not-for-profit education advocacy group that oversees the SAT and other college entrance exams. It released all three studies Wednesday.

"Trends in Student Aid," the second study, shows that fewer students are taking out education loans; borrowing dropped by 6 percent between 2011 and 2012.

That drop followed a year in which the average amount owed by graduates increased to $26,500 in 2011, up from $25,300 in 2010.

"Overcoming financial barriers to higher education remains a significant challenge for the nation's low- and moderate-income families," said Justin Draeger, president of theNational Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators, which surveyed its members to help the College Board compile its data.

Draeger noted that while borrowing is down and student debt is somewhat steady, families who aren't wealthy "are continuing to shoulder an ever-increasing amount of college costs."

The trends are happening as states have reduced their appropriations to public colleges by 19 percent in the past five years. At the same time, students have flooded into colleges, raising overall enrollment by 11 percent.

Other findings from "Trends in College Pricing":

-- Only about one-third of full-time college students pay full tuition with no financial aid.

-- In 1973 - using 2013 dollars - average tuition and fees at public, four-year colleges was $2,710. In 2013, it was $8,893.

-- In the past five years, average tuition and fees at public, four-year colleges increased by 27 percent.

-- In 1973 - using 2013 dollars - average tuition and fees at private, nonprofit colleges was $10,783. In 2013, the amount was $30,094.

-- In the past five years, average tuition and fees at private, nonprofit colleges increased by 14 percent.

Nanette Asimov is a San Francisco Chronicle staff writer. E-mail:nasimov@sfchronicle.com Twitter: @NanetteAsimov

Briefly explain the article, what happened and how it affects you.  Your response should be a minimum of 5-8 sentences.

This articles is about how colleges are expensive and many cannot afford to pay for school. They seek out help and for years now the prices have go up and down. Financial aid has made college possible but still is a burden to the families who are not wealthy. Even thought there is help to pay for school there is still a huge problem. They are becoming impacted. Many students are trying to get into college because it has become a bit easier to pay for school. This has made getting into college even more difficult then it already is. This is extremely important to know about because for one we are all seniors applying to schools who are for the most part impacted in most majors that we plan on going into. Second of all we now have to make our selves more noticeable to get accepted to schools that we want to go to and that can be very difficult. This affects us students applying to colleges in every way possible.

    Deliberation and Negotiations - Continued

I always have arguments with my parents and I always have to be the one to compromise because I'm the "kid". Not to long ago before I turned 18 I had a curfew at 12pm but that what when the fun starts. I leave around 8 and have to be home at 12pm on the dot. That gives me only about 4 and a half hours of being out. I would always ask to come home at 1am but no they would say 12:30pm and if I didn't like that I have to be home at 12pm. So I would have to agree. It was indeed a compromise because I asked for more time and they did give me extra time but only 30mins more, which was not enough but I took it. Now that I'm 18 I don't have a curfew, I just have to come home. It's so weird now I miss my curfew a bit. I guess in the end they had to compromise as well because I'm a legal adult now, so they compromised with me choosing the appropriate time to come back home.

    Due process- noun
fair treatment through the normal judicial system, esp. as a citizen's entitlement.

There has to be a process if something is going to be done to you like if you are being arrested there are rules to be followed to do so.

    Government shut down

Need to get away? Well, you can't. At least not to national parks. Or to national zoos. Or to national museums. They'll be closed. That's 368 National Park Service sites closed, millions of visitors turned away.

Well, if you own a small business and needed a loan from the government, you'll have to wait, depending on how long this lasts. If you were planning to buy a house and needed a federal loan, you'll have to wait. If you're a veteran, you might have to make a few trips to the mailbox before that check arrives.

Don't go to work if you're a federal employee. You're on furlough. (Offer not valid for workers in "critical services," such as air traffic controllers, hazardous waste handlers and food inspectors.) Do take some time to celebrate. In previous shutdowns, everyone who stayed home was paid retroactively after peace returned to Washington.

Theses are three ways I feel that are very important and how they are affecting us on a daily until the government goes back on.

    A Thinking Women

I am a thinking women because I'm committed to graduating high school and going to a four year university that I choose.

I am not happy with society and it's pressure to do things and be people that you aren't. All thy media forces all women to not love themselves or appreciate their person. Yesterday we had a discussion about this and many girls in the class room said they we not beautiful, they don't feel beautiful and I believe that we are all beautiful. It may not be a physical thing but can be inside of you and I think it's better to be beautiful inside because you are real, the physical is only temporary.

I would try to change this by letting every girl I encounter know that they are beautiful. Explain that beauty is in the eye of the beholder. No on will notice your beauty unless you know it's there and let it shine through.

    Right to think

Drummond said the right to think trial because basically that's what the whole trial was about. It wasn't about just teaching the children evolution it was more the fact of keeping the children close minded. The town is a one minded community and they didn't want to change that. Also, the towns people are sacred to do so because of being segregated and treated less.

I think that it is a must to be able to think differently! If we all thought the same nothing new will ever come about. For example ideas, to create things like inventions, new technologies, even simple things.

If we all had the same beliefs the world would be dull. Yes, it could help with current conflict. It could be lowered but if you think about it there will always be conflict, no matter what. It's in our human nature. I feel like life wouldn't be great it would just be okay. Different is not always bad. It can teach you new things like culture and open your eyes to change. There are many things out there that you can learn. It can make you better as a person.

Shoreline Lake and the End of the 1st Progress Period

The purpose of the field trip was to break the ice. To get to know each other and enjoy one another's company.the trip was okay, I honestly believe it was way better the last two years. My favorite part was learning to row boat. It was so tough! Next time we need to get games and music going, maybe a couple of races too.

Study hall means a period to do homework or make up work that needs to be turned in. Some requirements is doing at least half of the things that needs to be done. On block day I will work on completing all my posts.

Inherit the WInd Act 1, Scene 1

The town of Hillsboro seems to be a very small town and dead you might say. Everyone knows each other so I'm thinking that it has about 300 to 400 people in it. When I think of this town it reminds me of a show that I watch on discovery channel, "Porter Ridge." This town seems more sophisticated but it has some familiar qualities. For one, they both are small towns with not a lot of people. The people of Hillsboro do not have their own opinion, they follow what other people say so they won't be outcasted. There scared to get there voice out because they have a higher power and they will punish them by starving them of work and social life. This town is way different than my city. We have different opinions and we are more populated. We vote for things in our town and come to an agreement for all to be happy.

    Current Events #1

    1. This article is basically talking about how the 9/11 attack caused many who were victims who survived the attack, workers on ground zero, and those who lived near the site to get illnesses and cancers due to the inhalation of the debris. Many were not covered by the World Trade Center Health Program (WTC Health Program). The people who were affected by 9/11 as well as firefighters who worked at ground zero fought to put cancer as result of the inhalation to be covered by the health program. Finally, it was added to the long list and many are now being covered by the WTC Health Program to pay for all the medical bills.

    2. This impacted the nation because our country was attacked and caused severe damage that has lasted many years after the attack. Till this day there are people struggling with illnesses and diseases caused by the attack. This was a tragic moment that our nation suffered and we all still remember that day and always will, especially those who are now sick because of it.

    3. This article is interesting to me because not only did many people at the World Trade Center get killed those who were lucky enough to survive and help those to survive were punished with life long illnesses and diseases that will always remind them of that attack. This article is also important because it lets us be aware 9/11 never really ended, many people relive it every day. We need to be aware that those who suffer from cancers and illnesses need help to pay for all the damage that has been caused to them.

    Adjusting our Focus Today!

I believe that an individual has a grand amount of power to influence change. There is a saying, "practice what you preach." Its one thing to say thing to start change but with action it can create a movement that others will follow. An example gives other an image to follow and thats how you can create a chain of change. One person can start a movement but together we can start a revolution. In each revolution one man always started it by talking about what needs to be done and gathered others to follow and then others to follow them. Its a chain reaction if you will. Hitler was a man who did that and lead to WWII. I believe that one man has power, but you need to know how to get others to follow for change.

Petition for the Mendez family 1940s

I want better and more equal schools for the Mendez family and as well as the other Chicano family's. We need integrated school to learn about one anothers culture to have respect for different races. Equality is the key for all of us to prosper. All students must be taught the same thing and domestic classes should be an elective that all students can take. Funds should be spread throughout equally so that all students can have the opportunities to be educated at the same level.

The 50th Anniversary of Martin Luther King's "I Have a Dream" speech

    1. The purpose of the March on Washington was to get voices out there and celebrate together as one and equal as well at the largest political gathering by colored people.

    2. The purpose of the keynote address delivered by Martin Luther King, Jr was to let the people know that we are all one and equal and his dream was to see this division between us be destroyed to live as one at peace. No racism just love and have equal rights.

    3. The speech and the March on Washington became the two most celebrated symbols of the Civil right era because it created a change. It made the people truly make a movement to prosper for human rights. Also, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr spoke from his heart he preached to the people as a person himself. It was truly a connection with all.

    4. Many everyday citizens got involved in the civil protest during the civil rights era because they all wanted change and equality as humans. Change was much needed and with the bigger the crowd the more they are heard. Passionate about this movement for civil rights made it come alive.

    5. A drastic thing like losing human right or not being respected of your rights can encouraged a everyday citizen and citizens to get involved in the struggle for civil human rights. Also, if someone does what Martin Luther King Jr. did with his amazing speech to get the people up and moving ready for things to change. It gave motivation and that's what one needs to get the ball rolling.

    6. The connections that can be made with The March on Washington, and "The I Have a Dream" are that the gathering of the march gave the people opportunity for many to speak and one of those speakers was Martin and he motivated many to have movement for there rights and equality. This paved the way to change and helped get the word out that things need to be done not just for ourselves but for our future children as well.

    Project Review

I felt pretty good doing this project. I wasn't really nervous presenting and I found good information on the people I selected.

I could of improved on my presenting. Better eye contact and enhancing my voice.

Our group performance overall had a great performance and we spoke and explained ourselves very well.

In my community I feel like we need to focus on the streets actually pave the roads and side walks as well as light up some of the streets with street lights. Another thing is fund the community center as well as the school that are of low in funding. Get our community on there feet and not just better the schools who prosper but as we'll as those who need the help to prosper as well.

Ella Baker is on individual I think of when it comes to bettering the community because she created organizations to help her cause. She would of put the word out to help fund our community. She would voice the issue and gather people to put the word and create and organization to start a real movement.

    Made it through week #1

This weekend I plan in relaxing, to be ready and fresh Monday morning. Do a little shopping and cleaning because I have to and need to. Overall just chill, maybe go see my god sister.

Ella Baker - Ella Baker began her involvement with the NAACP in 1940. She worked as a field secretary and then served as director of branches from 1943 until 1946.

Inspired by the historic bus boycott in Montgomery, Alabama, in 1955, Baker co-founded the organization In Friendship to raise money to fight against Jim Crow Laws in the deep South.

In 1957, Baker moved to Atlanta to help organize Martin Luther King's new organization, the Southern Christian Leadership Conference (SCLC). She also ran a voter registration campaign called the Crusade for Citizenship.

Sir Nicholas Winton - In January 1939, the 30-year-old stockbroker from Hampstead abandoned a planned holiday to answer a call for help from a friend in Czechoslovakia engaged in saving Jews from the Nazis.

Between March 1939, when Hitler invaded that part of Czechoslovakia not already ceded to Germany under the Munich Agreement, and the following August, he and a group of British humanitarians saved 669 children, mostly Jewish, from the extermination camps. Winton secured travel permits and foster homes, and obtained passage on trains taking unaccompanied minors through the heart of the Third Reich to salvation. Their parents, however, were left behind, the British government decreeing that only child refugees were to be permitted entry.

Worst thing a man can do!

Armstrong puts photos or newspapers up on his walls in his barbershop to show those who are and we're doing things. Things like making a change or putting there voice out there. A man like Nelson Mandela, Jackie Robinson- first black baseball player to play in the all white major leagues, and Martin Luther King- I have a dream; spoke out for peace and equality; tried to end racism and be happy together as equal. All the people who were on Armstrong's wall were African American.

Social Justice- equality in terms of marriage, end race superiority, valuing human rights, natural human rights, etc.

Preparing for the first day of school

I didn't prepare for the first day of school.
My preparations started today in the morning after I woke up and got myself ready to come to school.
