Academy Graduation BBQ

My fondest memory was having a class with people that I got close with over the years and the field trips. It was a good ride while it lasted and I would do it again in a heart beat, I love the academy and all the extra shit you make us do lol. Thank you academy teachers! Y'all my niggas aha

Transitioning into BUYING A CAR!

The benefits of having a car is that it can take you where ever you need to go. Also you can take people with you to your destination. It also protects you from rain and bad wether. You are able to go more in distance than you might would normally and can hear music along the way. The cons of owning a car is having to pay for it, maintains the car, buying gas, insurance, basically you have to spend a lot of money In Order to keep it.  A new car is nice bc it has not been used, a used car sometime has bugs and you have to pay to get them fixed in the end you might end up paying the same price. It all depends on how you get the car.

Reasons You Need a Budget

You need a budget to:
Save money.
Afford bills.
Spend only on what you need and then figure out whether you would like save the extra cash or spend it on entertainment.
It also helps keep track of all the money you spend bc you write it down so you won't exceed your budget.

Earth Day!

Shopping locally mean purchasing things from stores that are run by residence of the area. They live here and buy things from others which makes the money stay local. Local delis, restaurants, etc.

When there are local businesses around the money goes into the community by taxes as we'll as when one purchases things or donates money to the local fire department. If you stay local the money will too, instead of buying supplies or food from a far you can get it from your local farmers market and they money spent will help grow more and more which becomes a cycle.

If you buy things locally you help the environment because the food doesn't have to travel long distance wasting gas and polluting the air. Also if the food is grown right with no pesticides it also is helpful. If we all just got our things next door it would be less costly and more fresh and nourishes your body.

The Final Chapter!

I worked a lot, actually all week. I went to Santa Cruz on my day off but it was a bust due to numerous things but I enjoyed it a bit. I loved sleeping in that's for sure bc I haven't slept in, in months. As we approach the end of the school year, I look forward to graduating and just being done with high school, I look forward to that summer vacation mostly. I want to finish school on a good note so, I'm gonna try my best from here on out. I just want to be enrolled in college and be for sure going so I can stop worrying about it.

Your Life Situation Card and A Budget

I was very surprised with the monthly income it really didn't cover anything! I don't think that budget in Redwood city can be survivable. A month I would have $1,504 and the apartment are about $1000. Plus we would have to put down a deposit as well as personal expenses and food expenses. The money would not be enough. Annual Gross income was $21,000 I think about 35,000 will cut it and be realistic to live in this area.

With the break down it showed how much we really spend. I feel like mandatory. Bills are most important like rent, food expenses, insures, then entertainment is last. We would have to be extremely budgeted and eat food that was at a lower price.

We couldn't afford anywhere in the Bay Area. We could barely afford renting and apartment to we looked for studios or rooms and it was still about $1000. The pros of renting the utility bills are included with the rent so you save your self some money, don't have to fix up home, pay property taxes. Also the deposit kills you because that's the only way you can buy or get the home, room, etc. because it over $1000.

Wrapping Up Yesterday's Discussion

  • Analyze the importance of an education
  • Discuss what you believe the state's role in that process should be
  • Use very specific statistics to further your argument
  • Ensure your paragraph would be motivating to yourself, your neighbor or anyone else moving forward in their academic career
  • Within this paragraph I would also encourage you to use first hand examples including:
    • your personal experiences and/or those of people you know and how their education (or lack thereof) has affected their daily lives.
    • Your thoughts on how a free education may change one's outlook on furthering their education as we move forward.
  • This final paragraph should be thorough, thoughtful and should also include some statistics from the articles you read that strengthen your argument.

Education is extremely important especially today's world, if your educated you have a higher chance of getting a good paying job then you would without one. From seeing what happens first had when you don't have an education

The Importance of Professionalism, Responsibility and the College Education!

In reading this article about the furthering of your education here are 5 facts :

Unemployment rate is really high (12.2%) non- college attendees

Today's millennium is the highest education level.

Average income of the with bachelor degree is double then those who don't.

The economic analysis finds that Millennial college graduates ages 25 to 32 who are working full time earn more annually—about $17,500 more—than employed young adults holding only a high school diploma.

Among Millennials ages 25 to 32, the answer is clearly yes that education will pay off in the end: About nine-in-ten with at least a bachelor’s degree say college has already paid off (72%) or will pay off in the future (17%).

I think that free college for the people of Tennessee is great, there success rate will go up substantially. It will better there economy of the state if more people are educated bc more money will come into the state in the end. Also it will help America because it will attract more jobs for those educated instead of sending the work out to India, etc. If all the states started to do this I think it will benefit us a lot and could help us improve as a country.  The over all benefit is that people of the U.S. will be able to qualify for more jobs and can make there way in to jobs that had be outsourced.

Reflection

Right now I'm not happy with my grades I had all A's and now I have all B's and one C. My GPA is a 2.8 and it was a 3.0 yesterday. This has never happened to me so I'm shocked right now. My difficult classes are Alegbra II and Human Bio. I need to make up work and turn it in ASAP bc I want to have a 3.0 I don't care about the field trip just my grades. I'm passing my classes but I still want to maintain a good grade.

4th Quarter

I'm excited about going to college and moving out, gaining my independence! What I'm nervous about is I'm not going to be with my parents anymore and that is gonna be a huge step. I'm gonna miss my family even if I'm not so far away. I'm also nervous about not liking where I'm going to live. I will never know unless I try so here goes nothing! I plan on finishing school strong!

“Sure, I’d Make That Bet”

  1. Why did these banks pay such large bonuses in 2008? Sold the loans to aig free from obligations if the loan went bad.
  2. What grade would you give the decision to award these bonuses? F because they were greedy and got bonuses for not doing the right thing.
  3. Finally, how might the prospect of such large bonuses affect the behavior of employees? In theory, people have an incentive to perform well if they make more money when their contribution to their bank’s profits is greater. But what happens to the employees when the bank loses money or collapses? If the banks still pay bonuses, and employees know losses will be borne by investors and taxpayers, will they take on too much risk? The bonus makes the employees feel no obligations or guilt by ripping people off with bad loans.

It’s Utterly Mad

  1. Why might they have done this? To get money and know that it will a sure way to get it. They gave loans to people who weren't qualified and took there money and made them go into debt and pay even more money with interest.
  2. Was it an innocent mistake, which surprised the banks and rating agencies as much as it surprised most investors? Or was it an intentional ruse, which generated phantom profits and bonuses, even as it sowed the seeds of financial destruction? I don't think it was a mistake someone just found a way to make money and they got greedy about it and went for it. I feel like this was planned bc it went on for so long, maybe it's a lot bigger then we thought it was. No one was stopping them, so who knows who else could of been involved that we don't know of.
  3. How, exactly, was it “mad”? It was mad bc people who were doing that had no heart for those whose money they took. People just wanted to buy homes and have a nice life but instead they got a nasty surprise. It's also mad bc people knew things were wrong but oddly they just let it keep happening. Money was coming left and right and no one asked where did it all come from. The IRS should of been down there necks!

Luck of the Irish

Saint Patrick's Day or the Feast of Saint Patrick (Irish: Lá Fhéile Pádraig, "the Day of the Festival of Patrick") is a cultural and religious holiday celebrated annually on 17 March, the death date of the most commonly-recognised patron saint of Ireland, Saint Patrick

The Inside Job Pt. 1

What is a loan? When the bank on anyone lends you money but you have to pay it back in a certain amount of years with interest.
Do you know anyone who has borrowed money to buy a house?  Yes, my dad did when we had a home when I was in middle school.
Who lent them the money? The bank lent him money bc he had great credit.
Did the borrower have to make a down-payment? I believe he didn't bc he had such a great credit that they just gave it to him fast.

In addition, it is important to know that if a borrower has a bade credit history, as about 1 in 4 peoples do, then their loan is known as a "sub-prime" mortgage.  Why would a bank even consider making a sub-prime loan? Give a higher interest and they make more money then they loaned.

Finance Park!

What did you find most interesting about this unit? This unit actually taught me a lot and I was able to get myself a debit card and understand how to use them. This was really a life lesson unit and I ejoyed learning about it all.
What are the 3 types of taxes that are collected and how is that money reinvested into our society and/or our governmennt.
Sales tax, property tax and income tax. They use it to resolve the budget debt, also goes to state and gov, 1% of the purchased value of the property per year which goes to your county and community.

I would shop in Oregon and Canada bc they have no sales tax, Montana, Alaska,

1.  In San Mateo County, how is the amount of property tax due each year determined?
2.  If you were going on an all out shopping spree, which state(s) would you most want to be shopping in? If I could shop in any state I would shop in Oregon, Montana, Alaska, New Hamsphire, Delaware because it has no taxes.
3.  What, in your opinion, is the best use for income tax money that is collected?
The January 1 value established by the Assessor is multiplied by the tax rate (usually 1% plus voter approved indebtedness) then special charges are added. These special charges are added to the tax bill by local districts and cities, not by the Tax Collector. A sewer assessment is a typical special charge that is added to a tax bill.

Middle of Febuary!

  1. The article I chose is about how businesses are lashing out over an Arizona bill that would allow retailers to refuse service to lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender customers based on the owners' religious opinions. The bill still needs to be passed by governor Jan Brewer and so far she hasn't even responded to it. If she just ignore the bill it will automatically be passed and made a law. Arizona is being known as the most unwelcoming state in the U.S and is gonna be a place no one will visit. The economy will be affected tremendously as well as small businesses will begin to shut down if they follow this bill or soon to be law.
  2. This law will affect the states small family owned businesses because if u are know for following the law people will not come. On the other hand if u don't follow the law again u will be boycotted by those who do. Also the state as a whole will take a big blow because tourist will not come to visit who have different views. Arizona already was a troubled state because of the immigration law they had on pulling over anyone who was colored. This just adds on to the pile of dislike towards the state. On the other had it can cause problems for the country because purist will thing America is just the same because this is global news. This affects us both state and country wise.
  3. I don't think this can affect me personally because I'm not gay. I think this can affect the gay community all over the world and US. It hurts us as humans because of discrimination and hatred toward people who are different. We are all equal even though we have different preferences that shouldn't even matter. To take it to the extreme like this is crazy. We are going backward instead of moving forward. This affects all the gays and transgender because they will feel unsafe when they go around. I know that this will not go down easily and California will be the first to stand up to say so. If this passes America will be angry and there will be a huge mob of angry people demanding for the law to be revoked. I am one of those people it's like going back to segregation and slavery and I do not believe in that.

The future awaits!

  • How satisfied are you with your performance this Semester?
I am satisfied with my performance this semester :)
  • Are you doing your very best in school and/or where do you have room for improvement?
Yes, I am trying but I know I can do better. I can improve in my homework area and school work.
  • What surprised you most about your grades, progress, etc as you went through Infinite Campus?
That I have all good grades except a C that I need to improve on.
  • Explain the importance of education in your opinion?  Is it very important, not important at all or somewhere in the middle?  Explain your response.
Education is important to me because it's the only way to really make a living in life without it making money would be very difficult.

Final Factors of Production Presentation & the Risks and Rewards of Investing!

My impression for the project was pretty good because I got to learn about things that I may own or have eaten before and really gives me insight. The thing I enjoyed about the project the most was the creative posters that most people made. The particular challenge for me was having to find all the info, because most products don't really tell you. I think the most interesting was Evelyn's project on the UGG boots because I own three pairs and I had no idea they actually killed them just for the boots but I also didn't know they used every part of the sheep. What I would change for the future years is actually bring the product or snack :) ! Yumm.

Happy Tuesday!

  1. What is the theory of the article in regards to the success of different countries at the Olympic games? approach requires knowledge of the athletes involved in a wide variety of sports.  Furthermore, even if you knew how to measure ability, you would also have to figure out some way to forecast each athletes’ performance.
  2. Do you agree or disagree with this theory and WHY? I agree you can't judge the athelets but the country they come from but the training they receive and the athletes over all performance in the sport that they are competing for.
  3. Do you think that this can be applied to other aspects of society, even in ours? Yes, in a work place you can only really judge someone by their work ethic and performance. Of course you can judge them physically by there looks but really the work is what counts and what will help you succeed in life.

Factors of Production and Coca Cola's Super Bowl Advertisement

I like the commercial because it letsus know that coca cola in world wide and that we all like the same drink even though we live in different countries and have different beliefs. The reason it's controversial is that closed minded people don't like the fact that we are all the same and equal no matter where your from or who you are. The commercial was trying to unite us and forget the barriers. I think this was good advertising and makes me want to drink a coke to be apart of that unity in the commercial.

Life and Debt

Globalization : growth to a global or worldwide scale; "the globalization of the communication industry"

I think it is a good thing because growth is always a positive when it come to the economy. More is always better then less, so if something globalizes it make its easier to get for everyone.

IMF : International Monetary Fund , an organization of 188 countries, working to foster global monetary cooperation, secure financial stability, facilitate international trade, promote high employment and sustainable economic growth, and reduce poverty around the world.

Is Wal Mart Good For America ... Continued!

Walmart's best practices is being able to sell things cheaper than other stores and are providing us with numerous products. America loves things that are cheap but very good quality and we support what Walmart does each and everyday. There worst practice is abusing production companies and hardly paying anything for materials and products. They call the shots and really take people for granted and that is wrong. They control the marketing and manufactures, and are left but to follow Walmart because then they will lose money as well. Walmart put Rubbermaid out b/c they stud up and refused to lower prices and Walmart didn't like that so they tried there best to ruin them and soon they went out of business. Walmart is so powerful it can do that to the manufacture. It has it's good and bad. I feel like Walmart is gonna get out of hand if things keep going the way they do. Someone will stand up to Walmart and a change will come.

Productive Resources & Entrepreneurship

  1. You have learned about the factors of production or the resources needed to produce goods and services. List all the major resources that the Strauss brothers needed to make jeans. Sewing machines scissors needles canvas, etc.
  2. All resources fall under 1 of 4 categories. Land: Natural Resources to make a product. Labor: Workers. Capital: includes tools, buildings, and equipment. Entrepreneurship: the ability to combine the other 3 resources to make or improve a product or service. List each resource as Land, Labor or Capital. Land: canvas Labor: Worker who cut and sew the jeans. Capital: sewing machines, thread, snaps, sciccors, needles, building purchased. Entrepreneurship: went to SF with an idea to sell something and saw that people needed more sturdy pants for work.
  3. Did the Strauss brothers possess entrepreneurship? Explain. Entrepreneurship: went to SF with an idea to sell something and saw that people needed more sturdy pants for work.

Personal Finance Unit 1 - Financial Institutions

I have chosen to investigate the product, that most women use on a daily basis or important occasion to enhance their look. Fake eyelashes made out of plastic.

The improper attachment of fake lashes can damage the natural lashes. The extra pressure caused by the false lashes can also cause damage to the hair follicles, stopping eyelash growth temporarily or permanently.
http://www.eyelashes.7p.com/how%20to%20make%20false%20eyelashes.htm
This is how there made! Labor.
A number of people have been credited with the invention of false eyelashes including D. W. Griffith (1916), George Westmore (1917), Max Factor (1919) and Karl ‘Charles’ Nessler (1921). However, we have to look back a lot earlier than this to discover their origins. Entrepreneurs.

Personal Finance Unit 1 - Financial Institutions

  1. I track how I spend my money regularly. 2
  2. I use a personal budget to plan how I spend money.  1
  3. I talk to my parents or guardians about my financial goals.  1
  4. Before making a purchase, I ask myself if this is a need or want.  3-4
  5. I save money for my future needs and wants.  4
  6. I set personal financial goals for myself. 1
I want a purse that is really expensive it's almost $300 and both purses that I want are the same price, juicy couture and Michael Kors. I don't need a purse so expensive but I do need a purse to to carry all of my personal things that I need with me. So far I don't have any future financial goals set. Maybe save money for my winterformal  and prom dress as well as a pair of shoes and ticket prices.

Factors of Production!!!

Land: all natural resources on earth without our doing, earns rent.
Labor: human effort to produce good service, earns wages.
Capital: machinery/tools/trucks/shipping/human capital that are used to create production, earns interest.
Entrepreneur: the person who takes risk to create product, funds the project, earns profit.

Needs vs. Wants

1) Needs:
Sweaters, shoes, clothing, food, contact solution and case, phone, underwear, glasses, body wash, soap, deodorant,

Want:
A lot of UGG boots, fancy clothing, make up, perfumes, new cell phones (latest), brand shoes, electronics (games like Xbox), jewelry, big TVs, Internet.

2) People are affected by scarcity regardless of their income because no one in the world can have unlimited time.
Would you agree with the statement that there is no such thing as a free lunch? Yes, I do because nothing in life is free it comes with a price. Everything is always bought by someone, it may be free to you but it was purchased to be given to you.

3) Land: Cotton mills, building to work in and material to make the shirts out of.
Labor: people who run the sewing machines, designers, maintenance crew to keep machines running, crew that helps load and ship shirts.
Capital: machines to pick cotton, make shirts, and load products, trucks, etc.
Entrepreneur: people with the plan to create a new business and keep it going.

4) Companies seek natural resources in other parts of the world because the resources could be better quality and can get material at a cheaper price.

Welcome Back !!!

My break was pretty good :) I spent time with my best friend, family, and boyfriend. I had sleepovers, went to Tahoe with family, and partied with family and friends. Overall you can say my break was nice. The highlight was my family met my boyfriend and we spent time together. I'm happy to get back to school so I can fix myself back into shape for college and also graduate.

This year I didn't make any resolutions like I do every year. I never keep them, so I though about not making any and letting things that I accomplish be my resolutions. Things that I achieve in my daily life as well as my educational career. I plan to do many things but I don't want to jinks them :) hopefully I have a lot in store for me in this new year. I can't wait to be done with high school and go to a university. I need changed in my life.
